Life Sciences
County Waterford is fast becoming a major hub for life sciences in Ireland thanks to a growing mix of manufacturing, R&D, and support infrastructure. The region supports over 10,000 jobs in pharmaceuticals, biotech and medical technologies — including big names like Bausch + Lomb, Teva, Sanofi, and others.
A recent major development is Repligen’s expansion, which is adding a new 33,000 square-foot facility set to create about 130 new jobs over the next few years.
Q1 Scientific is expanding its stability storage operations in Waterford, adding 10,000 sq ft to meet demand from pharma and medical device clients. Waterford’s strength comes not just from the companies already here, but its ecosystem: a solid pipeline of talent from SETU (South East Technological University), special research centres (PMBRC, SEAM, Walton Institute, Arclabs), and a network of innovation hubs and incubators.
There are also attractive sites available for growth, and increasing supports from state bodies and investment agencies.
